Rhythmic
Rhythmic is a book that studies the positive influence of punk culture on mental health. The design is based on the punk values of do it yourself, rebellion and self-expression, and it forms a coherent musical narrative through a clear visual language. Red, black and white are used as the main colours. Fonts and graphics are placed in a stable grid to suggest short formats and fast tempos. The book measures 210 by 140 millimetres and has 92 pages. Rhythmic is offered as an ebook and as a hardcover edition with butterfly-fold binding. A bright silver card highlights the central pages.
Rhythmic Book Design by Yiwen Zhang was identified as an outstanding illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Rhythmic Book Design received the Iron A' Design Award in Print and Published Media Design in 2024. The A' Print and Published Media Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that honors superior design of brochures, posters, magazines, catalogs, flyers, business cards, billboards, books and more.
