Journey to Lijiang
Journey to Lijiang is a series of illustrations about the city of Lijiang in China. The illustrations use the image of a tile cat, known as Wa Mao, as the main visual element. Wa Mao is a local cultural symbol and acts as a guide to the natural scenery and the ethnic traditions of Lijiang. Traditional cultural symbols are abstracted and redrawn in a modern visual style. The series is created with vector design software and produced with high level printing technology. The aim is to support the awareness and protection of the local culture.
Journey to Lijiang Illustration by Jijing Ju was featured as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Journey to Lijiang Illustration was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2024. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program which celebrates superior design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
